About the Position - Responsibilities & Duties
Waga Energy is currently seeking candidates for the position of Project Manager in Brazil (RJ or SP area).
The ability to accommodate +/- 25% domestic travel time (including overnight stays) and site work is required for this position. Some international travel may also be required.
This is an exciting, rewarding position promoting the role of renewable energies, notably renewable gas, in the future of energy transition.
The Project Manager will serve as members of a collaborative project team (based in France), responsible for managing landfill biogas-to-RNG projects via the successful delivery and operations of our WAGABOX® units. The Project Manager role is a highly responsible role supporting projects from the initial feasibility analysis stage through planning, design, permitting, construction, and ongoing operations.
Associated responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Managing technical challenges, project management responsibilities, and client/project partner relationships to ensure both successful project execution and professional growth and advancement.
- Developing and executing project scope, budget, and schedule from FEED (Front End Engineering Design) studies through to project delivery and site construction, while ensuring adherence to timeline, cost, quality and safety objectives.
- Managing all applicable regulatory and permitting related tasks to ensure compliance with all local, state, national, and industry specific codes and standards to include drafting and tracking requests for authorization.
- Managing the procurement of local equipment, supplies, and services essential for delivering the project within established budget and schedule, as well as assisting the Project team in France with procurement made in France, while ensuring that engineering and process documents comply with local regulations and specific requirements. This includes coordinating with both the Waga process department and outside equipment suppliers.
- Tracking and documenting project information (both internal and external) including information relevant to the procurement of equipment and supplies, as well as scheduling and progress related documentation.
- Managing subcontractors including subcontractor engineers, equipment manufacturers, and site contractors to include requesting quotes/proposals, overseeing/inspecting work to ensure adherence to the project plan, budget, and quality standards, and tracking change requests.
- Assisting the Business Development team regarding technical aspects of the potential projects when needed, (visits on site)
- Managing all applicable civil work, pre-commissioning & commissioning related activities : organize the site construction in compliance with the schedule, manage site co-activity in accordance with the rules (safety, etc.), ensure proper implementation of subcontracting contracts and effective involvement of other departments (EIA, process), as well as participating in the pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Ensuring the successful “handover” of new projects to the facility operations team.
- Supporting ongoing operations via technical trouble shooting and system checks of WAGABOX® units as needed.
- Maintaining a continuous focus on safety and process optimization/improvement throughout all phases of assigned projects, making suggestions and taking necessary actions as needed.
- Drafting grant applications when relevant.
About You - Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, self-motivated professional with:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering (chemical, mechanical, process, electrical or a related discipline).
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a project management role.
- Background in pressure equipment design, process piping, and rotating equipment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with engineering software (e.g., DraftSight, AutoCAD, or similar) is a plus.
- Expertise in the conception and commissioning of equipment within gas, chemical, or heat production industries. Ability to work on-site to participate in the pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- In-depth knowledge of engineering documentation and its practical application.
- Solid understanding of electrical and automation systems.
- Proven experience in project management and EPC project control, ensuring successful project execution.
- Knowledgeable in contracts, budgeting, accounting, and supply chain management.
- Familiar with relevant ASME codes, as well as civil and structural engineering principles.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Fluent in Portuguese and English (knowledge of French is a plus).
