Plant Operator

Key Facts

• 5+ years of industrial maintenance, plant operations, or related hands-on technical experience

• Technical or vocational training preferred; equivalent experience considered

• Experience in oil & gas, chemical processing, energy, or other industrial environments preferred

• Hands-on role requiring routine fieldwork, equipment inspections, and physical maintenance activities

• Comprehensive onboarding and training, including 1 week at our Bala Cynwyd headquarters and approximately 2 weeks at a New York operating site

Position Summary

As a Plant Operator, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and maintenance of a WAGABOX® facility that converts landfill gas into Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). You'll play a hands-on role in keeping the plant operating safely, efficiently, and reliably by performing inspections, troubleshooting equipment issues, and completing preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Reporting to the Operations & Maintenance team, you'll help maximize plant uptime while supporting Waga Energy's mission to deliver clean, renewable energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

What You'll Do - Responsibilities & Duties

• Perform daily plant inspections, monitoring rounds, and equipment checks to ensure safe and efficient operation of the facility

• Monitor operating conditions, collect performance data, and communicate findings through routine reports

• Troubleshoot and perform corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment

• Complete preventive maintenance activities, including filter, oil, carbon, and sensor changes

• Support annual shutdowns, commissioning activities, and ongoing plant improvement efforts

• Serve as the primary on-site contact for vendors, contractors, and visitors to the facility

• Utilize the CMMS system to document maintenance activities and track equipment history

• Promote a strong safety culture by following site safety procedures, ensuring proper PPE usage, and reporting safety concerns

About You - Qualifications & Skills 

• Technical or vocational education in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or a related field preferred

• 3+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, plant operations, field service, or a similar role

• Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment

• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)

• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and solve problems in a fast-paced environment

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing work safely and accurately

• Effective written and verbal communication skills

• Experience in oil & gas, chemical processing, manufacturing, energy, or other industrial environments is a plus
